We only had one day in Athens before heading to the Islands, so we wanted to make the most of our day by going to the Acropolis. The Acropolis was built on top of a small rocky mountain top, our concierge explained to us where we could catch the bus to the top, but then quickly mentioned that there is a walking path that you could also take to the top. We of course decided to take the challenge to walk it ourselves, without realizing that it was going to be a very humid 100 degree day.
The walk up was not challenging, but the heat was unreal. Just standing on the street we were dripping sweat. But that moment where we finally made it to the top made it all worth it. It also made us appreciate how difficult it must have been for the men building these structures!
Seeing the Parthenon, the Theater, and all of the other amazing structures was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. To be standing next to something that was built in 460 B.C. was amazing.
